Kotaro looked out the window of the train they had boarded in Central. The sky was clouded, the land was full of snow, and the air was cold. All in all, it was a typical day in the North. He looked at Nesmine, sitting just next to him in her new coat. He smiled. It had been expensive, but he thought he owed her for watching over the store.
As they pulled up in the station, Kotaro saw just how crowded the streets were. They weren't. There were barely any people outside. The cold was the reason he guessed. "We're here."

Nesmine poked her head outside eagerly, only to pull it straight back inside. "It's cold, and the clouds are falling! Do they fall when it gets cold? Or is this place strange?" The desert urchin had obviously never seen snow before, and immediately began to complain as the two left the comfort of the train. "Why would your sister go here? It's cold and wet! I hate it! What's wrong with these people, setting up a town here in all this cold? It's so cold it doesn't even rain right!"
She continued to rant as they headed down the street, following Kotaro's lead. "Any luck? Or should we go back inside?" Nesmine asked, eager to leave behind the new-found chill. She was now especially grateful for the new coat Kotaro had bought for her, as it kept most of the chill away from her body. Nesmine still believed that she had a right to complain.

Kotaro chuckled as Nesmine got confused with the snow. "Its Snow Nesmine. Its frozen water. Its rain, but coder then usual." He said smiling and exiting the train. "Some people like the cold, its only simple that they would build a city here. Don't worry, it gets warmer."
He looked around. "First we should find out about the murder that kid caused."

"Don't see why anyone would like this 'snow'... Oh yeah, the one that died from the exploding dweeb's hand. That's sure to give us some clues." Nesmine smiled, now eager to find Kotaro's sister, maybe then she could repay her debt to him. "So do we just ask random civilians about the murder, until we find where it took place? Or do we just barge in, guns blazing, kick some @ss, and find our answers?" She asked, somewhat hyper and giddy, as some of the snow had settled on her head.

Kotaro chuckled. "Exploding dweeb. What a name." He said laughing. "Well, someones bound to know about it, and we could ask the local authorities too." He said starting to walk. "Force isn't necessary unless we are attacked."

Nesmine frowned, it had been quite some time since she got to beat at some random individual, with the 'exploding dweeb' being the last target, and she hardly got into the fight before the 'flaming mustang' interrupted. Nonetheless, she nodded in acknowledgement, and followed, hoping that Kotaro would quickly choose a local inn of some sort before her ears froze and fell off.
"Well," She muttered while shivering, "I hope we find them soon. I don't know how much longer my fingers will tolerate the cold before they turn into ice." Nesmine wasn't exactly familiar with biological science, but she knew that too much cold couldn't be good for the body.

Kotaro nodded and looked around. "Lets find someplace to stay so we can warm up." He said pointing toward a nearby inn. He lead her toward it and walked inside. The place was barren except for the owner. He walked up and asked for a room, paid in advance, and walked up to their room. "Here." He said opening the door.

Nesmine rushed into the room and happily pounced on the bed. The train ride was long, and she was wondering if she would become one with the hard train seat if left there any longer. "Thank you!" Came the muffled response from under the covers. Eventually her head popped back out. "So, should we ask the inn keeper if he has any ideas? He might know a little something about the murder, or your sister... something like that."

Kotaro realized there was only one bed and sighed. He decided to bring that up later. "Yeah, we'll talk to him about the murder and then ask about my sister. Inn's usually get lots of news. He said as he sat on the side of the bed and looked out the window. "Its beautiful, the snow."

Nesmine shrugged, and watched her friend. "Snow's alright I guess. You sound like you're thinking about something... any memories maybe?" She asked, curious if he'd remembered something in particular. The journey had been long, and it was about time that one of the two had some kind of revealing flashback. Nesmine hadn't said anything about it yet, but she did remember crawling around in the desert. 'Why the desert? And why crawling? That doesn't make any sense.' She thought as she watched the snow drift through the window.

Kotaro shrugged. "Not really a memory, more like something I just like." He said watching the snow fall. He had a vague feeling this wasn't the first time he had seen snow in the North. Had he been here before? And if he had been, then why had he been here? "You can have the bed Nesmine. I'll sleep on the floor."

Nesmine smiled, her friend seemed happy, and that made her happy, although she wasn't exactly sure why. "Oh naw, don't worry about it. I'll take the chair, and you get the bed. Besides, I curl up when I sleep." She said with a smile, knowing he was trying to be kind, but there was no need. With that, she hopped off the bed, and curled into a ball on the carpet. "Well, are we going to be asking around today? Or should we rest here for the night?"
Although she was a little tired, she really wanted to find leads for Kotaro. There was no way his sister was going to wait for them to catch up, and Nesmine had a feeling that the longer they waited here, the more difficult it would be to pinpoint his sister's location.

Kotaro gave a sigh. "Alright, if you insist, I'll have the bed." He said smiling. He watched her curl up on the carpet. She must really be a chimera. Or just used to sleeping on the floor. He thought. He sighed and looked out the window. "You get some sleep, I'll talk to the inn keeper and we'll start tomorrow."

Before Kotaro could even say a word, Nesmine had already fallen asleep. The trip was rather draining on her, and she complained the entire trip until Kotaro's ears were certain to have gone deaf by the time they reached North City, making it harder on both the traveling individuals.
Loud snores now echoed in the room, and Nesmine seemed rather content on the new carpet. She would have gone down with her friend, but something about the warm temperature of the inn contrasting the cold temperature outside lulled her straight to sleep.

Kotaro smiled as he heard the snores from Nesmine and took the blanket off the bed, draping it over her. It was bound to get cold inside and all he needed was his coat. He walked to the door and looked at her once more before going to talk to the inn keeper.

Kotaro was on the bed, without a blanket and his coat draped over him. He was shivering slightly but a little cold didn't bother him.
