Nesmine's eyes popped open, the light coming in from the window gave her eyes that unusual glow, and she sat up. She placed the blanket back on Kotaro, and headed to the lower level of the inn. 'Why's he always got to be the nice guy?' She thought to herself as she left. 'He's gonna end up dead.' Frowning, as she looked at the other customers, she couldn't help but believe the thought would come true. Kotaro was the nicest person she had ever met, and Nesmine knew that it would be his ruin. Nice people don't last long, or so she thought.
Nesmine had to leave Liore fast, or else Ana was bound to be hurt. Nesmine was bad news, and she knew it. She'd already hurt Kotaro, and didn't plan to do it again, but there was no controlling Wicked. In the end, Nesmine only planned to be with Kotaro as long as it took to find his sister, and she hoped it would be soon. She never wanted to hurt anybody, especially not Kotaro.
Nesmine waited on the bottom of the stairs, hoping to avoid the awkward morning conversation, as she had little ways to thank him. Suddenly, as she watched the customers, an idea popped into her head. She ordered food from the innkeeper, then rushed up the stairs, shaking the blanketed Kotaro awake. "Food!" She proudly announced, pushing the plate in his face.

Kotaro was in a house. One made of mud brick and seemed to be in the desert. He looked around him. There were pictures on furniture. Pictures of an Ishvalan family. It was a pleasant little house. Then it turned to hell.
The house suddenly in a flash turned into a mess. The furniture was upturned, pictures were smashed, and a red sticky substance was on the walls. Blood. Kotaro looked down at the floor to see the family from the picture on the floor, covered in blood and a knife in the fathers back. He looked behind him and saw a figure in the doorway. "Lira." She started to walk away. "Lira wait!" He shouted reaching for her. Then it all went black.
Kotaro awoke with a start, practically firing into the sitting position and a shout escaping him. He was sweating and breathing heavily. He looked and saw Nesmine next to him, a plate of food in her hands. "Nesmine...."

"Are you alright?" Came the worried response from Nesmine. She had never seen him like that, and was now quite worried for her friend. "Did you have a bad dream?" She asked, maintaining a soothing voice. "I brought you food..." She gently set the food next to Kotaro, and put a hand on his shoulder, trying to reassure him. "Whatever it was, it's gone for now, I promise." She said softly, hoping to calm her friend down.

Kotaro looked at her and then at the food. He sighed and held his head with his hand. "A bad dream. Yeah, that's all." He said as she set the food in front of him. "Thanks." He said as he began to eat. He ate half of it before putting his fork down. That dream had expired his normally enlarged appetite.

"Did you see anything? I don't mean to pry, but it might help... you don't have to say if you don't want to." Nesmine asked, hoping to find a new clue, yet she understood that dreams like that could be horrifying in detail and gore. "I hope you feel better..." She said, taking the plate back. Generally manners weren't her forte, but this was different. Her best friend was hurt on the inside, and she had to be at least a little nice and less selfish.
She gave Kotaro a kind smile, before heading to the door, figuring it best that she left her friend to calm by himself. Whatever it was had to be personal, and she was simply an intruder at the moment.

"Nesmine, you don't have to leave." He said as she walked over to the door. "What I saw wasn't pretty, and I won't share it. But you don't have to leave me to myself." He said getting out of bed. "My sister was in it, but that's all i can say." He wanted to tell her. He felt maybe he should. But just the memory of what he had seen was enough to shake him.

Nesmine stopped at the door, and turned around. "Kotaro... you sure you okay? You want me to stay... is everything alright? You don't sound very good." She couldn't hide the worry on her face. Her friend seemed afraid, and he wasn't his usual cheery self at all. Whatever was in that dream had to be awful, something that even strong people dreaded.
"Is there anything I can get you? Maybe some cold water would help you shake it off?" She asked, remembering how people often woke others up with cold water, as it helped them recover their senses faster.

"I'm fine Nesmine." He said giving her a reassuring smile. "It was just a bad dream and it shook me a bit but I'm fine now. Don't bother yourself with it." He wondered why she was so concerned. Maybe this was just her way of repaying him. "Actually, some cold water does sound nice." He said with a smile. "If its no trouble."

Nesmine gave a nod, disappearing down the stairs, returning with a three quarters spilled drink with ice, and handed it to Kotaro with a smile. "There! That should do it." She then gave a frown, noticing the spills that lead to her. "Oops... eh the wood'll take care of it. This place was built cheap anyway." She gave a laugh before returning to her favorite spot on the carpet, and sitting, watching Kotaro carefully to see if anything changed. The urchin wasn't one for sentiment, but Kotaro was her one and only friend, unless you count Ana who's miles away, and she didn't want him to feel sad.

Kotaro took the glass and smiled slightly at the small spills that were behind her. Nesmine was troublesome and clumsy sometimes, but was a good friend. He took a sip of the water and smiled. "Thanks Nesmine." He said as he finished what was left in the glass. "I don't know what I would have done without ya."

Nesmine couldn't help but turn red at the compliment, as she wasn't used to being praised, especially not for something nice she had done. "Yeah whutever, just don't get used to it, got it?" She retorted, trying to reinforce her typical rude character (and because she didn't want him to notice she was embarrassed). She might have been worried, but the last thing she wanted to do was get him to think she was one of those 'fluffy sweet' individuals.
"Just doing whut I gotta do, now you'd better get down stairs so we can ask around. I can't do it by myself, you know. And I don't have the picture of the girl we're looking for." She mumbled, trying to look calm and annoyed.

Kotaro gave another smile at the return of Nesmine's regular attitude. "Don't worry, I like you better this way anyway." He said putting his coat on and tossing her coat to her. "Put it on, its a cold morning." He smiled at her. "I'll treat you to a meal since you gave me mine in bed. I'll focus on asking around as you eat."

Nesmine smiled, now happy at the mention of food. "Yup, yup, that's a good idea!" She said as she followed him out the door, putting her coat on. "Though shouldn't I tag along just in case we run into something? No sense in having a brawl without me, I crave 'em more than food." Nesmine exclaimed, hoping to run into an idiot to push around for information. Mostly she just wanted to make sure her friend didn't freeze to death, as she hadn't the money to get a ride back, or the will to do find her past alone. She hated to admit it, but he had really grown on her, and she didn't want to see him get hurt.

"I'm only going to ask around the inn. You'll come with me when I ask around the city. The inn keeper told me the murder case has ended but the site is open. There's a witness a couple blocks from here." He said going down the stairs. He ordered a large meal for Nesmine and sat it down on a table door her. "Eat up, I'll be right back."

Nesmine nodded, and quickly grabbed the plate, chowing down on her newly cooked food. She watched Kotaro as she ate greedily, leaving manners to the wind. A few people began to stare as the tall girl ate, so she flicked bits of rice at them until they left her alone. 'Jerks... why'd they got to stare? It's rude!' She thought to herself as she watched the people turn away. She wasn't used to the cold, and was grateful for the coat once more when someone opened the door, letting a draft in for a few moments.
