"Well, they heard me," she mumbled, now ashamed of her stealth ability, "whatever it was just grazed my arm, I couldn't even see the weapon as it hit me, it was just so dark. Whoever they were, they were ready for any listeners, I barely got to catch a few sentences before they noticed me. But don't worry, I got lucky. It's just a scratch..."
Ana trailed off for a second, she wouldn't admit it, but she was very scared. So far, she was the only person known who had seen these people and lived to tell the tale. Ana had a really bad feeling that they weren't going to leave a loose end. "They were saying something about Cornello, that his usefulness was nearing it's end, and that's when they stopped... I think they're looking for me." She said with dread.

"Let me see the wound." Kotaro said standing up. He took her arm and gently removed her hand. "Its cleanly done. Just like the one you described on the dead man." He said reaching for a cloth in his coat. He wrapped it around the wound and inspected it. "That should do."
He shook his head. "Then Cornello is only the arm of whatever's really out there." He sighed. "If those two are looking for you, we'll have to be careful."

Ana nodded with a sheepish look, being used to keeping her wounds hidden from others, as she often worried that the other scars would be noticed, yet Kotaro seemed nice enough. "Thank you, for helping me." She said with a smile. "And don't worry, I'm very careful. They won't get me, I'll be fine. I just stumbled last night, that's why they heard me. It won't happen again."
"Oh, I should probably give you a description of the strangers, just in case you run into them. The lady had pale white skin, with long curly black hair, you'd know if if you saw her, she's the loveliest lady I've ever seen in Liore. And then the fat man was really short, looked like a ball, and kept sucking on his thumb. I'm sorry I can't give you a better description, it was really dark." Ana explained, trying to be as helpful as she could.

"Still, keep an eye and ear open. I don't want you getting hurt." He said with a sigh.
When she started describing the two he made sure he had them locked in his mind. A lovely pale blackhaired woman. And a fat ball shaped man who sucked his thumb. "That sounds like a strange pair." He said scratching the back of his head. "The descriptions good enough. Now I know what to keep an eye out for."

"Not a problem... should I take you to the morgue now that you've seen what the weapon does? Or do you already know what it can do now? Any idea what kind it is?" Ana asked, hoping that they had enough evidence to pinpoint a starting place for their search. "If you need more information, we might want to head out while the day is still young." She said as she put on her coat and began to head towards the door, readying herself for a long days work. None of this was going to be easy, or safe for that matter. Ana hoped he understood the risk he was taking in aiding her.

"No need to take me to the morgue. I have a good idea of what it is like." He said following her. "It seems like a spear wound. Its the only weapon that can enter so smoothly. The guards of Cornello's use spears and one carried a handgun." He sighed. "Any idea where to start the search?"

"Well, I thought we might start our search right in the temple, in the heart of all this mess. We might hear something, or at least be able to pull questions straight from Cornello or those that serve him. I recommend that we stay close to each other, just in case those people are about." She said, before opening the door and heading down the stairs of the inn. "Is there anything you'll be needing before we leave? Or are you ready to go?"
Ana smiled shakily, hoping that they could have this matter resolved within the next day or so. She was sick of Cornello's speeches, and eager to prove that he was nothing but a fraud and a liar. Maybe then people would stop going missing, and she could then decide where she was going to head for next.

Kotaro nodded. Good idea Ana. The temple is our target." He said following her downstairs. "I have all I need." He said feeling the small metal ball in his pocket. "Cornello won't talk unless we gain his trust and seem to be on his side." He thought a bit. "Or we can start questioning him about the two you saw."

"Well, if it's trust we're looking to use on Cornello, I have all we need." Ana smiled. "You see, I have been working here for a year, tending to the sick people around here, watching the inn, and maintaining the library. As far as he knows, I'm a dedicated follower." She whispered to Kotaro as they began to head outside. She couldn't help but have pride in her patience. "I would leave the questions on those people to me, as I was the one who ran into them. No need to get him suspicious of you."
Ana lead him to the temple, where onyx statues stood high above their heads, giving them imposing stares of judgement. Ana calmly walked inside, leading Kotaro inside, just past the pews. "Where do you want to start?"

Kotaro smiled. "Good thing I met you." He said as they walked to the temple. "But if this backfires, you could get hurt." He sighed. "I'll leave the questions to you, but I'll be waiting next to you in case of trouble."
When they reached the temple he scanned it quickly. "First we need an audiance with Cornello. If you can get that, I'll look around for anything suspicious."

Ana smiled at the compliment. "Thanks, and I know. This isn't going to be a joyride for anybody. I'm a big girl, I can handle it. Wait here, I'll get Cornello." She said, almost with humor, as she didn't even come up to Kotaro's shoulders.
Ana rushed over to a large wooden door, and pounded on it until a guard came. "May I speak with Cornello? Me and a friend require an audience with him, if that would be alright." She asked in a polite voice. The guard gave a nod and disappeared behind the door. "He'll be here in a few minutes." She informed Kotaro.

Kotaro nodded and looked around the room. It looked empty, with the exception of the large podium for talks. "This place is big, even for a priest." He said thinking. "You think he's hiding something in here?" He whispered. There was also a large gate in the wall to the left. "I wonder what he's hiding...."

Ana
"Of course he's hiding something in here, the real question is what." Ana mumbled. The large wooden door opened up again to reveal Cornello and his guards. Ana marched up to the man, motioning for Kotaro to come. "We have a few questions for you, if you don't mind."
Cornello
(At the rate that I borrow this guy, I might just have to buy him.)
"What can I do for you, my blessed sun children? Have you come to see what the sun god can do to find your sister? Or is there something else troubling you?" He said with a prestigious voice. The guards watched Kotaro nervously, they still weren't entirely sure whether to trust him.

Kotaro nodded as Cornello came out of the room. The man was big, but he didn't seem that dangerous. But one look at his ring caused Kotaro to rethink that. "Partially yes." He answered. "I was wondering. When I came to town I found a ton of dead birds in the outskirts. They looked like the ones you bring back to life." He was going to let Ana ask the majority. He was mainly there for protection.

Ana
"It was rather disturbing, we were wondering if you maybe knew why? That, and I was wondering if you had seen two people... a tall black haired lady, and a short round man? Usually I don't mind strangers, but they seemed rather odd." Ana asked, careful not to mention that she had been the one injured when snooping in. The last thing she wanted to do was alert the strangers to who had heard them, in case they didn't already know. This was going to be a very delicate subject.
Cornello
Cornello took a few moments to respond, there was an obvious look of fear on his face, but it was quickly replaced by his usual look. "Have no fear children, I promise that the sun god still favors us. There is a strange flu that I have noticed going around, and we believe it somehow found its way into the water. Nothing to fear, it only bothers birds, just don't give them tap water until I give the announcement that it's safe to drink again."
Again, more lies filled his words, as he thought of the next excuse for the two people in black. "I wouldn't worry about the strangers, we have guards searching the city for the newcomers. They must have strange plans, so it is best to remain in your homes while we find them. We believe that they may be the ones responsible for a few disturbances, but nothing more. Relax, and enjoy the safety of the town." He said before turning away, ready to head back to his quarters now that he had given them excuses for their questions.
