Defining Features/ Disabilities: Her left eye is gone, she has the shape of a butterfly carved into her chest, and her left hand is automail.
Goals/Ambitions: to become better at her alchemy and to save as many people as she can.
History:
Rin doesn’t have any memories of her birth mother, she doesn’t even know if she has any siblings what so ever. She was put in an orphanage and traveled from home to home, barely able to keep any memories of her childhood, as it all seems like a blur.
Some people wonder how Rin came across Alchemy, as most orphans go without such studies. Still, she learned it from her last adopted family, who taught her well. Her mother and Father both knew it and used it to amaze her and teach her, her father even taught her how to draw and use the transmutation circle. It took her forever to make it perfect, she studied for years to become a good alchemist..
Her foster mother and father, Ren(Lotus) and Bara(Rose) died one night. Theirs wasn’t a natural cause though, they were murdered by another alchemist. Rin was asleep when she hear the sounds of transmutation taking affect. She got out of her bed and tip toed to the room. She saw that Bara was on the wall. Her head had been smashed in and her chest was slashed open. Rin almost cried at the gruesome sight.
Rin looked around for Ren when she saw a hole in the wall, she walked through the room and saw Ren drawing various transmutation circles; he looked like he was fending someone off. She stepped cautiously and peeked out the wall, and felt something cross her cheek when she saw Ren look at her. He yelled for her to go back and stay there. She shook her head and drew a transmutation circle herself, hoping to help. She saw Ren come towards her, but she also saw something moving towards him. She pressed both hands on the circle and formed a wall to protect him, separating Ren from the other moving object.
She heard a laugh and a feminine voice comment on her reflexes, saying that Rin had to die, she’d interfered and seen too much. She saw a pencil like thing (the same white color as the wall) coming towards her and it looked sharp. Rin looked away, only to see another body block her own and blood squirt from it. If anyone could see her eyes, they would have been wide with fear and worry.
Rin felt the body fall side ways and saw that it was Ren. She couldn’t help what came next, she cried. She cried as much as time would allow, which gave Ron enough time to enter the house, scaring the intruder away. Rin saw that the other person had left her alone with Ren’s corpse, and Ron tried to help her, saying a few kind things to her and she listened gratefully.e just looked so kind and strong through her eyes. She recognized his uniform, it was a military one.
Rin didn’t have anywhere else to do and going back to the orphanage was out of the question, so she decided to join the military. She was sure she could put her skills to good use, but she didn’t leave her Okaa-san and her Otou-san behind in her haste. She buried them and she wears Ren’s “choker” and Bara’s Bracelet.
The laws of Human transmutation, that was and still is an interesting subject for Rin. She bets no one would have ever guessed that she tried it at one point. It was for a friend, her little brother had died. So being the nice older sibling she was, she tried to bring him back, hoping to get help from Rin, as she was the accomplished alchemist. So the two drew a transmutation circle outside and put in the brother’s body, preparing for the powerful alchemy they planned for so long.
Rin explained that they needed something of equal exchange for his soul and her friend nodded, and went and got a dog to use for the exchange. Something was nagging Rin to not let that be it, but her friend was so insistent on it, so she gave in. She put it in the circle with the boy’s body and she pressed her hands on it, they watched as the lights danced in the night sky. Everything seemed to be going right, but there was something the two hadn't planned for that would change everything. The dog and the body fused into one being and barked a growled at them, the worse part was that it wasn’t even half way done.
Her friend cried and ran into the circle. Rin tried to pull her back, but if she did the two beings would have died once more. If she tried to separate it, things could get worse. She stopped her process of thinking, only to wonder why was her heart felt like it was being pulled right out of her chest. She saw that this thing(which was once her friends, the little brother, and a dog) was yanking at her chest. Rin panicked and honestly tried to finish what she’d started, but she couldn’t. With her heart nearly stopping she pushed down on the Circle and meant to destroy it. She felt her heart being pulled again before she saw it rise up and melt(in a sense).
Before Rin knew it, she was surrounded by white, she looked at her surroundings and couldn’t find a trace of anything that she was previously doing. She shook, had she done something wrong? She stood up slowly and jumped once she saw a gate in front of her, it had many designs on it, curling and twisting some were thorns, others were roses and some where parts she couldn’t recognize.
At a voice, she jumped back. Her eye twitched. It had the voice of a child, yet it was a void. It asked her if she wanted to see past the gate, and if she did, there would be a price. Rin shook her head, she didn’t know what was in that direction and she would be a fool if she went. At the mention of knowledge, she looked at it and bit her lip. She needed to know how to separate that thing and return them to their original bodies. Rin soon nodded, she risked three lives, so she would risk three things. She said as plain as day, “I offer my left eye,” she touched it, “My left hand,” She held it up, “ and whatever you decide to permanently place on my chest as a promise.” She heard it laugh and it made her shiver.
When the gate opened, her mind seemed to flash as knowledge was presented to her. She felt her body drop to the ground before the gate closed again. The child’s laugh resounded through her ears again before she was back in the room. She now knew that she couldn’t separate them. She cried, not from the pain of her eye bleeding, her chest bleeding as well, or even her hand. It was the fact that she couldn’t do anything to save them.
Rin killed her friend and brother and a dog, she didn’t want to, and tried to research to see where things had gone wrong. Stopping out of pain, she pulled at her shirt and looked down to see a rose shaped scar on her chest. Apparently this was set never to heal, how had she not noticed it? Not only was there a scar, but her left eye, and her left hand were gone. Once lost, It couldn’t be put back, so the young girl was stuck with a rose on her chest, her left eye missing and a missing left hand until she could figure out what she’d done wrong. In time, and with much research, she may even try bring back the three souls she took and ruined.
Rin knew that she needed a knew hand and the only substitute was automail. She had seen some people with them in her younger days and knew that they were possible. She just hoped that it wouldn’t hurt too badly. After asking Ron, well, after kicking him in the face and then asking Ron, she was allowed to go to Rush Valley In order to an automail fitted to her. When she arrived, she was bombarded with offers and amazing prices. To be fair, she went to go and look at each and every shop.
She was amazed at how many there were! Even though she needed one that would get the job done, she needed one that would be durable and wasn’t too heavy…and preferably not magnetic. She always came across two of the three factors and decided she could live without the automail not being magnetic. She decided on aluminum alloy. Her mechanic, Kutser, was very precise and got the auto mail the same size as her right hand. He had already told her of the process…except for the connecting of the nerves.
When he connected her nerves, she screamed and her body tensed. It hurt like hell afterwards and she could barely even close her fingers. She would often call Kutser when she figured out how to do something. He would often ask her on its condition and if it was hurting her. That made her feel happy. Whenever she got permission, she would go to Rush valley and get her auto mail inspected…or make an excuse to visit Kutser since she considered him her friend.
Personality: Rin is very happy go lucky for someone who has had to move from home to home. She’s loves acting as a big sister to kids who have no older siblings. She doesn’t see the need to have kids go through the same things she had to. She’s one of those people who you can call a push over until it’s serious. If that happens then you would go away with your feelings, or body, hurt. She tends to take people like this for a joke and they seriously piss her off. Even though a smile will be evident on her face, what she’s thinking is completely different. She can take a good joke, but if it hurts someone she’ll “joke” back tenfold. She doesn’t really like anyone frowning, especially kids, so she’ll find something to make them happy. She does everything from playing with them to fixing their toys or making them some, since she never ad anyone do it for her/ She just can’t deal with that without casting them a glance.
Though if you try to put her in a mini skirt, you’ll most likely be kicked a few meters back. After living with ron for a few years, she’s learned the signs of a pervert and she hates perverts! Though she does have to say, she let’s ron get away with a lot of things. He will only get a kick to the face. Anyone else will get a kick below the belt with a lot of unlady like words and still beat them down with her fists. And she’s made sure her fists are hard, especially her left hand.
Catching a pervert maybe hard for the little orphan, she is rather oblivious to things. Not emotions though. She’s highly sensitive when it comes to these. She can indeed sniff out if you’re trying to hide something from her…She’s had lost of practice with it so it’s easy to tell. She’ll try her best to coax one to talk to her about it, but if it doesn’t work, she’ll leave it up to them to tell her at their own time.
Weapons and Tools: Besides her automail hand, a sai Ron gave her when she got promoted to Second lieutenant. She carried it in her leg brace on the right leg.
Friends/Family:Family;; Ren Amore and Bara Amore(foster parents: Decreased
Friends;; Ron:alive
RP Sample: Rin reread the letter as he put on Her shirt and Her brushed her hair down. ‘Ron’s fiancé? Ron’s fiancé?.’ She repeated the name like a mantra. When in the hell had that happened?! She tried the obi in the back as she thought about it. She couldn’t call the female’s face into her memories. It was weird. She could indeed call Maire into her head, Jasmine and Lily as well, just not Xue Xue. Pouting, she turned around and walked out of her room. On the way to the makeshift piano room, she passed all her friends in the hallway. She watched as Beth and Ruth snickered at her.
“Aww~ look at our fat sister.” Beth teased.
“Yes, such a cute cubby on she is right?” Ruth said,
That made Rin’s eyebrow twitch. She wasn’t fat! He looked as Flandre walked over to her and undid the obi. “What are you doing Flandre?! That took me ten minutes to do!” She yelled as Flandre tightened it and retied it.
“It was lopsided and loose Rin. I was just fixing it for you.” She said as she pat her shoulder.
Rin sighed as a “thank you” left her lips. Now, what didn’t she do? He had closed her room door, brushed her hair….did he put it up? She ran a hand through her hair. Nope. She suddenly felt two pairs of hands in her hair and she bent down to accommodate the height difference. She felt Her hair being yanked up to the top of her head and she yelped a little. “Hey, careful May, its gonna fall out if you tie it that tight!” She yelled before feeling her hair being tugged down to make sure it was tight. “OW! Jay, seriously?” She asked as she stood up, away from the twins’ devilish hair doing.
“We are terribly-“
“Sorry Rin, but you’re hair wasn’t in the”
“Right style.”
They said. Rin jumped an shivered as they did the twin thing again. It never ceased to creep her out. She turned her head when she heard two different chuckles.. She turned to glare at Ryde and Clyde. “I don’t see why you two are laughing. When I’m done, guess who’s gonna have to put up with Beth’s and ruth’s hair doing fetish?” He asked. The laughs stopped cold.
“You owe me big for this Rin.” Clyde said as he saw a twinkle in Ruth’s eye.
Rin smiled as walked out of the house she had been allowed to live in for the past 11 years. So many memories lay in that house….Manor…what ever you want to call it. The place where Xua Xua and Ron were was in walking distance and she could make it there in five minutes if he ran. If he didn’t ten minutes. 'But seriously. Xua Xua….Who in the heck is that? I don’t think I’ve met her before.’ she thought as she ignored the looks she was receiving from her kimono. ‘I’m well aware that they have been going out for a while, but I really don’t think that we were introduced‘ Her train of thought was stopped as she went face first into a car. Rubbing her nose, she silently cursed the person that had the gall to….she saw long black hair and a sword on a back… and a girl guiding the said black haired fellow….Well, there was only one person he knew that fit that description. She walked around the car and followed them behind closely. When they stopped, she hugged the dark haired male from behind. “Ron~. It’s been ages! How are you? What are you doing here? Why haven’t you visited me? And who is this?” she asked rapidly, though on the last question, her voice became just an octave deeper as she bowed her head to the female.
